Start a trial (and convert to a paid license)

Request a trial

When you launch Understand without a license (and you're online), the Licensing dialog shows an “I want a trial” button. You can also start from the Welcome page link “apply for a trial.” Either opens the SciTools trial request page in your browser — fill in the requested details and submit. Once granted, Understand runs on a Timed Trial / Trial License.

No internet on this machine?

The dialog will say “Please connect to the internet to begin your free trial of Understand. Alternatively you can request an offline code below.” Use Request Offline Code for an offline trial (see offline licensing).

Common trial issues

  • “It looks like this machine has already had a trial of Understand.” — trials are one-per-machine. Contact [email protected] to discuss an extended evaluation.
  • “Automatic generation of trial licenses is not enabled for this product.” — the product needs a trial enabled; contact [email protected].

Convert to a paid license

When you're ready to buy, the Licensing dialog's Buy Now button opens scitools.com/buy/understand/, or contact [email protected]. After purchase you'll receive a claim code — redeem it and enter your license.
